PRICING

I believe in price transparency when it comes to deathwork. End of life is a time when expenses mount for all income brackets—and they accumulate in lockstep with evolving grief and diminishing capacity. As we move farther along death’s spectrum, we can find ourselves with less access to the rational, organized, practical thinking that we would typically use to guide us in selecting the support we wish to receive. Grief and trauma can dramatically lessen our ability to conduct business as usual, taking our logical selves offline as we focus our energy on our emotional and spiritual bodies. We often simply lack the time and composure needed to track down, record, and compare rates through multiple phone calls and emails.

Honoring this, I present my pricing structure here for greater ease in gathering the information you need to make the choices that work best for you. I do not offer a sliding scale, as I feel that introduces a burden of ascertaining financial need that can be uncomfortable at best for all involved; instead, my rates allow me to both continue to offer my services as a volunteer with three different hospice programs as well as to take on one pro bono client per year in my private practice. I am also open to conversations around barter.

Prepaid packages left partially unspent due to death may be refunded, used for bereavement support, donated to an individual of one’s choosing, or reserved by the Night Rose in its “Pay It Forward” fund, which expands my capacity to serve those who are severely under-resourced. Please feel encouraged to open a conversation no matter your means.

Death Midwifery Services

I prefer to bundle hours of time rather than bill from session to session, evaluating the desire and need to refresh our contract as we come to the close of each package. This allows for spaciousness and flexibility in the work, keeps costs known and paid in advance, and promotes regular check-ins that help us stay in right relationship. At this time, I charge the same hourly rate for all death doula services provided, as everything I offer, from help with paperwork to holding a hand through a critical moment, is informed and influenced by the entirety of my education and experience.

Please note that while rates are hourly, I book pre- and post-vigil house-call sessions in 75-minute increments to allow adequate time for fruitful work together.

Celebrant Services

Full-service packages containing the elements described on the Ceremonies page are typically set at a flat rate, plus reimbursement for travel costs and for any items purchased in support of the service, such as keepsakes. Services that exceed two hours in active duration or are delayed by more than 20 minutes, require more than one location (a celebration of life at home followed by interment of ashes at a columbarium, for example), or are otherwise unusually complex will incur additional costs that may be negotiated on an individual basis.

Standard flat rate:
$600 (50% deposit paid in advance, 50% billed at completion of service)

Transportation fees:
Round-trip travel based on the current IRS reimbursement rate ($0.655/mile), plus $10 flat fuel surcharge for travel beyond 10 miles round-trip, per visit (billed with balance of fees at completion of service)
